Where: Old High Road (C880) at the junction with A1066, Roydon
Norfolk County Council will be carrying out essential highway maintenance works as part of the Plane & Surface Scheme. The works will include:
Resurfacing the main carriageway 🛣️ and Reconstruction of sections of the footway 🚶♂️
These improvements are vital for your safety and the long-term quality of the road.

Manor Road: Residents can access up to the point of closure via Brewers Green.
Emergency Services: Access will be maintained at all times 🚑🚒

Roydon Parish Council’s Big Green Week was a fantastic success, bringing our community together to celebrate and care for our local environment.
Event Highlights
The Bat Walk at Quaker Wood was a magical evening, giving residents a rare glimpse into the world of our local bats. Quaker Wood’s diverse habitats provided the perfect backdrop for learning and discovery.
Bird Song Evening at Heron Meadow delighted nature lovers with the beautiful chorus of local birdlife. The tranquil setting of Heron Meadow helped everyone connect with nature and each other.
We were also thrilled to welcome Frenze Beck to the programme this year. The site’s new circular walk and restored habitats made it a wonderful addition, thanks to the efforts of local councils and wildlife trusts.
Community Spirit and Activities
The week’s activities, including the litter pick and pop-up café at Roydon Village Hall, showed the true spirit of Roydon. Residents of all ages pitched in to keep our village tidy, enjoying refreshments and good company along the way.

Norfolk County Council proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (STRO12722) affecting the B1077 Shelfanger Road from its junction with U76012 Factory Lane to its junction with U76013 Louies Lane (the “Road”) in the Town of Diss to facilitate surface dressing preparation works, the Road will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be between 18:00 on 12th May and 06:00 on 13th May 2025, but may continue to be closed/restricted until the 24th June 2025 where the closure is still required beyond the anticipated dates.
Alternative route is via: B1077 Shelfanger Road, Winfarthing Road, Diss Road, Mill Road, The Street, Short Green, Mile Road, B1134 Heath Road, Long Row, Station Road, A140 Ipswich Road, Scole Dickleburgh Bypass, A1066 Victoria Road, A1066 Park Road, B1077 Denmark Street (Pulham Market, Roydon, Tibenham, Diss, Gissing, Heywood, Winfarthing, Dickleburgh and Rushall, Scole, Tivetshall, Shelfanger, Burston and Shimpling, Aslacton).
The works promoter for this restriction/closure is: Norfolk County Council.
Vehicular access will be permitted to a final destination in the Road where signs indicating such access is possible and permitted are in place.
The Order shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works when the closure is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 24th June 2025 without further notice.
If necessary, the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the date the Order is effective.
A person who contravenes, or who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the closure imposed by the Order shall be guilty of an offence.
Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance.

People of all ages are invited to submit a photo of plants, wildlife or landscapes in and around the parish to be in with a chance of winning. Just email photos to us with your name, age, address and phone number, a brief description and where you took the picture. It’s that simple. We’ll present the prizes on 14 June after the litter pick.
