  • Emergency road closure at B1077 Denmark Street in the Town of Diss – LV cable repair (my ref STRO11111)

    Section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

    Diss (STRO11111) Notice

    In accordance with the provisions of Section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Norfolk County Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that owing to LV cable repair the use by vehicles (of any class/specific class) of the B1077 Denmark Street from its junction with 71669 St Nicholas Street to its junction with 7P180 Beehive Yard (the “Road”) in the Town of Diss will be temporarily prohibited/restricted.

    Alternative route is via: C880 Roydon Road / Old High Road, A1066 High Road / Stanley Road, B1077 Denmark Street and vice versa (Roydon, Diss).

    The closure/restriction is necessary because of the likelihood or danger to the public or serious damage to the road or both.

    The closure/restriction is anticipated to take place from 23rd to 29th May 2024 but the Road may continue to be closed/restricted until the 12th June 2024 where the closure/restriction is still required beyond the anticipated dates.

    This Notice shall be in effect from 23rd may to 12th June 2024 or until the closure/restriction is/are no longer necessary, whichever is the earliest.

    This Notice shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works / when the closure/restriction is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 12th June 2024 without further notice.

    If necessary, this Notice may be extended for an additional 21 days by further Notice and/or for a maximum of 18 months from the date this Notice is effective by further Order.

    A person who contravenes, or who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the restriction/ closure imposed by the Order shall be guilty of an offence.

    Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.

    🗓️ The date for this additional meeting will be discussed at our scheduled meeting on Tuesday, April 30th. However, the consultation details will be discussed in depth during the Extraordinary Meeting, the date of which will be confirmed by the end of April.

  • Norwich to Tilbury Transmission Project


    The statutory consultation for the Norwich to Tilbury transmission project is now underway and will remain open until 18th June 2024. You can find detailed information about the project on the National Grid website:

    One key aspect to note is that there are two proposed options for the route around Roydon: a pylons route and an underground cable route. To view these options on the interactive map, please refer to the key, accessible through the ‘I’ (information) button on the map.

    The Parish Council will be thoroughly examining the plans and developing its response over the next two council meetings. If you would like to contribute your input to this process, you are encouraged to send your comments to the clerk at clerk@roydon-southnorfolk-pc.gov.uk
