Roydon (STRO11777) Notice

In accordance with the provisions of Section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Norfolk County Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that owing to BT urgent wire transfer works the use by vehicles (of any class) of the C339 Snow Street from 250m east of its junction with U76079 Darrow Lane for 25m south-eastwards (the “Road”) in the Parish of Roydon will be temporarily prohibited.

The closure is necessary or expedient because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The closure is anticipated to take place between 08:00 and 18:00 on 30th October 2024 but the Road may continue to be closed until the 3rd November 2024 where the closure/ is still required beyond the anticipated dates.

This Notice shall be in effect from 30th October to 3rd November 2024 or until the closure no longer necessary, whichever is the earliest.

This Notice shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works when the closure is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 3rd November 2024 without further notice.

If necessary, this Notice may be extended for a maximum of 18 months from the date this Notice is effective by an Order.

Alternative route is via: Snow Street, Brewers Green, Manor Road, Old High Road, Roydon Road, Shelfanger Road, Diss Road, Mill Road, The Street, Short Green Dog Lane, Common Road, Bressingham Road (Roydon, Diss, Heywood, Shelfanger, Bressingham).

A person who contravenes, or who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the restriction/ closure imposed by the Order shall be guilty of an offence.

Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.

Some residents will already have noticed that Brewers Green (BG) has had its annual cut in the last few days. For the benefit of those who are unaware of the management of the Green, this is a brief outline of what management is done, and why.
For over ten years the management of BG, which is common land, has been done by an advisory committee of the parish council after an agreement between the owner and the parish council. The committee consists of both councillors and local residents. BG is designated as a County Wildlife Site (CWS 27) by Norfolk Wildlife Trust which advises the committee on management to encourage biodiversity.
The committee also recognises the value of the Green as an open space for the use of the public and so an area of the Green is regularly cut throughout the growing season to provide this amenity space.
However, the greatest proportion of the area is managed for the benefit of wildlife. This means that the area is only cut once a year in order to allow native plants to thrive and consequently other wildlife forms. The cut material, known as arisings, is removed from land and taken for composting by a commercial company. Leaving the arisings ungathered would result in maintaining fertility in the land which does not favour wild plants.
The area of the Green, where a small new area of woodland has been planted, requires the use of a small tractor and flail to do the cutting amongst the saplings. The arisings from this area are currently used by committee members to mulch the young trees.
The great majority of the cutting is done with much larger tractor units and flails which, this year, was completed in just one day.

Roydon residents, we’ve got some awesome updates for our local footpaths—thanks to your reports and a little teamwork! 🙌

✨ FP5 off Snow Street has a shiny new fingerpost guiding the way! This came about after a local resident raised the need for it. We’re still waiting on the new ditch bridge to complete the upgrade, but it’s a big step forward (pun intended)!

✨ FP21 off Tottington Lane now has a brand-new combo fingerpost marking both FP21 and the Angles Way! It replaces the old Angles Way post that got knocked down near Potash Lane a few months back. I spotted the damage, snapped a pic, and sent in a report—and voilà! 🚩

These improvements make it easier than ever to explore our beautiful village paths. 🌿 Huge thanks to everyone who took action and helped make this happen. Let’s keep it up! Every report counts. 💪

Norfolk County Council proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (STRO11523) affecting the U76231 Tottington Lane from its junction with A1066 Stanley Road for 418m south-eastwards (the “Road”) in the Parish of Roydon to facilitate Norfolk County Council drainage works, the Road will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be from 23rd to 25th September 2024, but may continue to be closed/restricted until the 6th November 2024 where the closure is still required beyond the anticipated dates.

Alternative route is via: A1066 Stanley Road, Denmark Lane (Roydon, Diss).

Vehicular access will be permitted to a final destination in the Road where signs indicating such access is possible and permitted are in place.

The Order shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works when the closure is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 6th November 2024 without further notice.

If necessary, the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the date the Order is effective.

A person who contravenes, or who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the closure imposed by the Order shall be guilty of an offence.

Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.

In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance.

The South Norfolk Village Clusters Housing Allocations Plan (VCHAP) Regulation 19 Pre-submission Addendum will be published between 9am on Monday 12 August and 5pm on Monday 7 October 2024.

The VCHAP is a Local Plan document which, once adopted will become part of the Development Plan for South Norfolk.   The proposed Addendum includes the alternative and amended sites proposed for allocation within the VCHAP when it is submitted to the Planning Inspectorate for examination, following a consultation on some alternative site options earlier this year. The document also includes a number of other focused changes to the proposed VCHAP. The published document only deals with the changes that are being proposed to the Regulation 19 VCHAP document that was published in 2023.

The Mindful Town and Villages Project is designed to improve community connection and create a network of local people that are willing to have a chat with residents, recognise the signs of mental health conditions and have the skills and resources to signpost people for further support when it is needed. We do not expect any Wellbeing Champion to act as a mental health professional, hold personal information or have one-to-one sessions. The purpose of this training is to provide low level support that fits around everyday life.

We have a course scheduled on the 29th August, 6-7.30pm at Poringland Community Centre. It would be appreciated if you can circulate the course information to anyone you feel could benefit. Full details are as follows:

Roydon (STRO11265) Notice

In accordance with the provisions of Section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Norfolk County Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that owing to Anglian Water repairs of a burst water main the use by vehicles (of any class/specific class) of the U76012 Factory Lane from its junction with U71130 Russet Road for 50m westwards (the “Road”) in the Parish of Roydon will be temporarily prohibited/restricted.

Alternative route is via: Factory Lane, Brewers Green, Brewers Green Lane, Roydon Road, Louies Lane (Roydon, Diss).

The closure/restriction is necessary because of the likelihood or danger to the public or serious damage to the road or both.

The closure/restriction is anticipated to take place from 2nd to 8th July 2024 but the Road may continue to be closed/restricted until the 22nd July 2024 where the closure/restriction is still required beyond the anticipated dates.

This Notice shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works / when the closure/restriction is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 22nd July 2024 without further notice.

If necessary, this Notice may be extended for an additional 21 days by further Notice and/or for a maximum of 18 months from the date this Notice is effective by further Order.

A person who contravenes, or who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the restriction/ closure imposed by the Order shall be guilty of an offence.

Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
